{"id":14252,"date":"2025-07-29T11:54:52","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T15:54:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=14252"},"modified":"2026-04-05T20:50:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T00:50:56","slug":"5-8-24tpi-thread-adapter-and-front-sight","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?product=5-8-24tpi-thread-adapter-and-front-sight","title":{"rendered":"5\/8&#8243;-24TPI thread adapter and front sight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Improved thread adapter for the M14.\u00a0 It converts the 19\/32&#8243; (0.595&#8243;) -32TPI muzzle threads on an 18&#8243; or 22&#8243; barrel to a 5\/8&#8243;-24, suitable for mounting a suppressor combined with a front sight post.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: This will NOT fit the 16&#8243; SOCOM, which have a 0.670&#8243;-40TPI thread.<\/p>\n<p>This redesigned adapter has several distinct advantages versus other products on the market:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The internal geometry has a counter-bored recess in the front that is only a few thousandths bigger diameter than the tip of the barrel, so this assures the adapter is concentric to the barrel.<\/li>\n<li>The adapter has the bottom of the counter-bore seat on the crown of the barrel, assuring the adapter is parallel to the bore.\u00a0 NOTE: If you have a cut barrel, or carbon buildup on the crown, or added threads to a barrel, or possibly other reasons, it is possible your crown is not perfectly perpendicular to the barrel.\u00a0 Always check suppressor alignment after assembly to assure proper alignment before firing live ammunition.<\/li>\n<li>The adapter can be used alone, without a front sight, for people who are going to scope their rifle.\u00a0 This design eliminates the complexity of needing splines to time the front sight to the rifle, or needing the castle nut to hold it on.\u00a0 Machining splines and square holes is an expensive process, requiring broaching or Wire EDM machining, so this design is a highly effective, low cost solution to adaping threads for suppressor mounts, or other muzzle devices.<\/li>\n<li>The adapter can also be used with a front sight we designed to go with it.\u00a0 To eliminate the need for splines and castle nuts to time the sight to the rifle, this much simplified design sets mechanical zero by allowing the front sight to rotate about the adapter.<\/li>\n<li>NOTE: Front sight blade is tapered, per the USGI spec.\u00a0 Install it with the clamping screw on the right side.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>5\/8&#8243;-24TPI Thread Adapter for M14 and 2-position adjustable gas valve and front sight combo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":13820,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0},"product_cat":[32],"product_tag":[107,117,276,301,302,303,346,347],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/product\/14252"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=14252"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/13820"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=14252"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fproduct_cat&post=14252"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fproduct_tag&post=14252"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
