{"id":15156,"date":"2026-01-28T20:55:39","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=15156"},"modified":"2026-04-26T12:50:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T16:50:26","slug":"competition-safety-glasses","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?product=competition-safety-glasses","title":{"rendered":"Competition Safety Glasses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Industry First: ShootingSight is pleased to offer shooting glasses that are both adjustable for competition shooting, and offer actual safety protection!<\/p>\n<p>Shooters have long been faced with the compromise of either wearing safety gasses that meet ANSI standards for impact protection, or using competition glasses that allow the corrective lens to be adjusted for position and angle, but do not pass any of the impact tests that are needed to provide meaningful eye protection.\u00a0 ShootingSight has finally resolved this dilemma by keeping it simple; starting with a pair of commercially available safety glasses that carry a Z87+ high impact rating, then adding to it a 5-axis articulated mechanism for holding corrective lenses.<\/p>\n<p>The safety glasses feature an aviator style frame that offer greater internal volume to minimize fogging.\u00a0 Then, a center mount clamping system developed and manufactured by ShootingSight attaches to the frames.\u00a0 It has two Carbon Fiber arms: one pivoting for the shooting eye, and one fixed for the other eye.\u00a0 These arms attach clamps for lens holders to be attached, pivoting in two axes, and moving in two axes.\u00a0 Clamps attach with large head thumb screws for easy adjustment.\u00a0 They are compatible with both the ShootingSight lens frame, as well as most of the other lens frames on the market from Champion, Knobloch, Tec-Hro, and others.\u00a0 So most other existing lens holders and accessories can be re-used.<\/p>\n<p>Glasses are designed and sold by Pyramex, an American company in Tennessee, made in China for low cost (as are almost all safety glasses on the market).\u00a0 They meet ANSI Z87+ &#8216;high impact&#8217; requirements, which means they will not only stop a 1\/4&#8243; steel ball fired at 150 fps (over 100 mph), as well as stopping a 1 lb pointed weight, dropped from over 4 feet onto the glasses.\u00a0 Success means the lens did not shatter, the lens did not pop out of the frame, and no portion of the lens\/frame assembly distorted enough for any part of it to impact the wearer&#8217;s face.\u00a0 The lens holders and attachment system are all designed and made by ShootingSight in the USA, in Cincinnati Ohio.\u00a0 Thumb screws are generously sized commercially available screws, not tiny custom machined screws designed by frustrated watch makers in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>Since the lenses in the safety glasses meet the CMP requirement for eye protection, rifle shooters can use the smaller 23mm lens holders for better positioning in prone shooting, or else use the innovative tangent mount lens that allows positioning close to the face, even when the lens is at extreme angles.<\/p>\n<p>Glasses are available with no lens frames\/lenses for those who want to re-use existing lenses, or can be bundled with discounted lens holder\/custom lenses (option of tangent mount or radial mount).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Industry First: ShootingSight is pleased to offer shooting glasses that are both adjustable for competition shooting, and offer actual safety protection!
