{"id":2845,"date":"2018-12-05T16:24:59","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T21:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=2845"},"modified":"2026-04-19T19:14:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T23:14:22","slug":"drilled-m14-spindle-valve","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?product=drilled-m14-spindle-valve","title":{"rendered":"Drilled M14 Spindle Valve"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reduced flow spindle valve for the M14, limiting gas flow with heavier loads, or when firing suppressed, so the op-rod does not get over-stressed.<\/p>\n<p>These are new production, based on the USGI drawings that have been cross-drilled with a 0.052&#8243; opening.\u00a0 With these, the two valve positions will be Full Flow \/ Reduced flow, versus On\/Off.<\/p>\n<p>While there are many combinations of load, bullet, barrel length and suppressor design, so it is impossible to pre-determine what will work best, the expectation is that 0.052&#8243; is likely too small, and if you single load, the bolt will not lock back on an empty magazine.\u00a0 So using a pin vise and wire number drill sizes, you would enlarge the 0.052&#8243; hole at the entrance, so you have a 0.052&#8243; exit and a 0.054&#8243; entrance, and try again.\u00a0 Next, enlarge both holes to 0.054&#8243;, etc, one step at a time until it just locks on an empty mag.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since these do not change the exterior design, they are legal for use in the Service Rifle class.\u00a0 If your only goal is to shoot suppressed, the externally adjustable valve I make is not match legal, but is easier to adjust for shooting suppressed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reduced flow spindle valve for the M14, limiting gas flow with heavier loads, or when firing suppressed, so the op-rod does not get over-stressed.
