{"id":706,"date":"2017-04-13T11:25:21","date_gmt":"2017-04-13T18:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=706"},"modified":"2022-09-20T06:20:50","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:20:50","slug":"b-filter-adapter-ring","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/shootingsight.com\/?product=b-filter-adapter-ring","title":{"rendered":"30mm Filter Adapter Ring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s41\"><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">Step-up thread adapter, to let you add a standard photographic filter to your existing 30mm front sight tube.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s41\"><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">Rather than try develop, produce, and inventory custom (and expensive) filters for a 30mm sight tube, ShootingSight has developed a <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">step-up thread adapter ring, so a shooter can take advantage of the wide selection of inexpensive and high quality photographic filters <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">on the market to improve their target image.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s41\"><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\"><strong>This <span class=\"xr_s9\">Adapter Ring<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0has a male thread section to screw into the 1-1\/4 x 28TPI thread standard of a 30mm front sight, and has a female <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">threaded section in the 40.5mm x 0.5mm photographic standard, allowing you to add haze reduction filters, UV filters, ND (Neutral <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">Density gray to reduce brightness), simple protective filters to keep muzzle blast off your lens, or tinted filters for contrast enhancement.\u00a0 <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">Note that keeping a selection of tinted photo filters is a lot less expensive than keeping a selection of tinted lenses on hand.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s41\"><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">Filter adapter will fit either the Centra 30mm Goliath front sight, with no lens installed, or will screw in front of ShootingSight lenses, or <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">the ShootingSight sun shades.\u00a0 This is NOT compatible with the Right Sight.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s41\"><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">Note, there are 2 photographic standards.\u00a0 This adapter uses 40.5 x 0.5mm, which is the most common.\u00a0 However there is also a less <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">common 40.5 x 0.75mm.\u00a0 I have verified that filter manufacturers HOYA and Tiffen (the 2 brands most professionals use) are <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">40.5 x 0.5mm, and are compatible with this adapter.\u00a0 I have not verified other brands.\u00a0 If you do try and screw in a 40.5 x 0.75mm, it will <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">still work: the threads will engage for about 1-1\/2 revolutions, and will tighten up before the shoulder of the filter is in contact with the <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">adapter.\u00a0 Not elegant, but functional.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s41\"><span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">This item is the step-up ring only.\u00a0 30mm Sunshade and 40.5mm filter are not included, and are shown in the above pictures for illustrative <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl xr_s8\">purposes only<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Step-up thread adapter, to let you add a standard photographic filter to your existing 30mm front sight tube.
