Description
GAARD ENGINEERING PUNCH. Pin punch with replaceable tips. Stop bending the tips of small punches, then throwing the entire thing in the garbage!
The GAARD ENGINEERING pin in punch handles are made to accept standard or undersize dowel pins which are much less expensive than buying a whole new punch. Standard alloy steel dowel pins are slightly larger than the labeled size, so if you are using a 1/16″ punch on a 1/16″ hole, the pin will stick. If your job can tolerate a full 1/16″ pin, these standard sizes are made in such quantity that they are CHEAP – a box of 50 is a few dollars. If you are using the punch on a specific hole size, we supply them with undersize pins, just a few thou smaller, so they don’t stick.
Big advantages of the GAARD ENGINEERING PUNCH:
- You can replace a bent pin for much less than buying a new punch.
- You can get the pin that is as short as your job needs – longer pins bend more easily.
- You can easily keep a supply of different pin lengths on hand.
- You can get brass pins, if you need a non-marring punch.
- You can roll a pin on a belt sander if you need a custom diameter, without ruining a punch.
- You can roll a pin on a belt sander to add a pointed tip, if you want a center punch.
- We sell pointed carbide tips for some sizes, if you want to make a scribe.
- Use the handle without a tip to start dowel pins or roll pins into difficult-to-reach holes.
