Description

Reduced flow spindle valve for the M14, limiting gas flow with heavier loads, or when firing suppressed, so the op-rod does not get over-stressed.

These are new production, based on the USGI drawings that have been cross-drilled with a 0.052″ opening.  With these, the two valve positions will be Full Flow / Reduced flow, versus On/Off.

While there are many combinations of load, bullet, barrel length and suppressor design, so it is impossible to pre-determine what will work best, the expectation is that 0.052″ is likely too small, and if you single load, the bolt will not lock back on an empty magazine.  So using a pin vise and wire number drill sizes, you would enlarge the 0.052″ hole at the entrance, so you have a 0.052″ exit and a 0.054″ entrance, and try again.  Next, enlarge both holes to 0.054″, etc, one step at a time until it just locks on an empty mag.

Since these do not change the exterior design, they are legal for use in the Service Rifle class.  If your only goal is to shoot suppressed, the externally adjustable valve I make is not match legal, but is easier to adjust for shooting suppressed.

I have ordered two of these and they are not as described here; I got two very nice spindle valves drilled and tapped with a drilled screw plug not what is advertised here but ShootingSight service is excellent!

Sorry about that – we have both styles, and these are new products for us, so there was a mix-up in the order. Please send us an email and we will set it right.

Works great to reduce action speed in my suppressed M1A Scout. I like that I can have two working gas “on” settings (on/reduced) and easily switch depending on if I have the suppressor attached or not. Nice work!

I purchased the 0.052 reduced flow spindle valve as a “Suppressed Option” for my M1A. Using M80 147gr ammo with a suppressor, the recoil impulse is fantastic and the action locks back. Definitely a good OEM-style mod for those looking to suppress their M1A/M14 rifles.
