Description
The Minimus line is a performance trigger/hammer set that delivers a light reliable 2-1/2 to 3 lb trigger pull for bench, bipod, or precision target shooting. This trigger/hammer offers unparalleled drop-in performance, with no modifications or grinding required, along with a 35% reduction in lock time (hammer swing time).
Polished, ground, and fully hardened sear edges will release the hammer like breaking glass. An ultra hard / low friction NiB surface coating makes the Minimus trigger pull butter smooth and eliminates wear. A ground-up revision of the original Garand trigger design with custom springs drops the pull weight to 2-1/2lb. This is not a trigger job or tuned USGI trigger, which are limited to removing metal from the original USGI design, and having to chose springs that can be squeezed into an existing part. This is a fundamental redesign that is new manufacture, and adds metal above what the USGI design started with. It applies modern CNC techniques with precision shooting needs.
All parts are true ‘drop-in’ on USGI spec trigger housings with no additional fitting, polishing, or tuning required on the parts or on the rifle. (Commercial trigger housings occasionally require some fitting).
Lock time is reduced by almost 3ms. Lock time is the time between when the trigger releases the hammer, and the hammer hits the firing pin. That’s time during which the rifle is typically swinging off-target. Especially in offhand shooting, if shots are broken as you are moving ‘off-target’, that time can cost points. The ShootingSight NM Hammer is pocketed from billet steel to be light weight, reducing polar moment by 40%, and optimizing geometry for speed. Lock time is reduced 35% from 8.5ms to 5.5ms.
Trigger sear edges are ground and polished to be sharp before an ultra hard and low friction surface coating is added. The result is a smooth trigger pull, and a clean break which will not wear. Adjustments are added for second stage sear engagement, so you can reduce the second stage creep to nearly zero felt travel.
This trigger is available in two bow shapes. The USGI Minimus preserves the traditional bow shape for the M1 / M14. The EBR Minimus has a flattened trigger bow, developed to be ergonomically matched to pistol grip style stocks, like the EBR, Archangel, or several other options.
NOTE: Minimum pull weight for rifles in CMP or NRA competitions is 4-1/2lb. This trigger does not qualify and is NOT match legal.
